I graduated from the University of Mexico City.
My project consists in understanding the genetic bases of the interplay between two essential physiological processes: reproduction and immunity, in the main malaria vector Anopheles gambiae.
To achieve this goal, I am looking at the role of certain genes that might be involved in both processes, by testing them under specific conditions such as: mating status (virgin/mated females) and infectious status (non-infected/infected females).
I am also studying the immune response to mating of field mosquitoes caught in copulation from swarms in Burkina Faso, a project run in collaboration with IRSS.
